Water & Wastewater Program

Wyoming has regulated sewage disposal and public water supplies since June 8, 1921.  The Wyoming Department of Health included a group called the Sanitary Engineering Service to administer the water and sewage regulations.  Follow this link to read copies of the regulations going back to 1921.  The Sanitary Engineering Service was transferred from the Department of Health to form the nucleus of the newly formed Department of Environmental Quality in 1973. The Wyoming State Statutes governing the DEQ are found in Title 35, Public Health and Safety.  The Water and Wastewater Program is the successor to the Sanitary Engineering Service.
