The CBM Group is responsible for design review, permit issuance, monitoring, inspection and enforcement of statewide CBM produced water treatment facilities and land application sites.

Surface water discharges of coalbed methane produced water are regulated by the WYPDES Program.
Potential groundwater discharges of coalbed methane produced water, such as unlined reservoirs, are regulated by the Ground Water Pollution Control Program.
