WDEQ DISCLAIMER: The purpose for providing these files to the public is to enhance awareness of subdivisions that have been approved by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ). As always, subdividers and consultants are cautioned that even if a proposed subdivision is immediately adjacent to a previously approved WDEQ subdivision, site specific information will still be required to support the application. The attached files are NOT intended to be used by subdividers and consultants to be submitted with proposed subdivision applications in lieu of collecting site specific information. Water quality information for many wells are included in this database and can prove invaluable where no other data exists. The attached files are provided in ArcMap shapefile compatible format. One file, (DEQ subdivision_04_11_05.shp) contains subdivision locations with attached metadata; the other file (wy_county_boundaries.shp) is to be used as an underlay. These files can be viewed with either ArcGIS (ArcMap) or ARCINFO, commercial proprietary softwares, or ArcExplorer, a commercial FREEWARE software. ArcExplorer can be downloaded from the following site: www.esri.com ArcMap and ARCINFO may be purchased from the same site. In order to use the files as intended, simply point and click on a given subdivision and the data fields associated with that subdivision will become visible in a popup box. In order to make the most from the attached files it may be helpful to download and underlay digital county scale files (roads, water bodies, railroads, etc.) from the following site: http://wgiac2.state.wy.us/html/directory.asp EXPLANATION OF DATA FIELDS: ID WDEQ subdivision application number COUNTY County where subdivision is located X Latitude (east-west) State Plane Coordinate System (1927) - within 500 feet Y Longitude (north-south) State Plane Coordinate System (1927) - within 500 feet S_T_R Section, Township, Range of subdivision SUB_NAME Name of subdivision provided by applicant AQUIFER Name of aquifer, formation, or surface water from which water supply is obtained CONFINE Confinement of potable aquifer (u = unconfined; s = semi-confined; c = confined) ELEV_AVE Average site elevation (ft) STAT_DEPTH Depth to static water level below land surface (ft) ELEV_STAT Average static water level elevation (ft) = ELEV_AVE - STAT_DEPTH K Average hydraulic conductivity of leach field soils (ft/day) N Porosity of aquifer (dimensionless) I Aquifer gradient (ft/ft) 2YR_ZOC 2 year time of travel (zone of contribution) in ground water (ft) (default is 100 ft) SEO_ID State Engineer Office well permit number (on-site, adjacent, or temporary well indicative of water quality for the proposed water supply) WELL_NAME Name taken from State Engineer's well permit or local name DATE_WELL Date of well water right or when water sample was collected TDS_WELL Total Dissolved Solids for sampled well (mg/L) NO3_WELL Nitrate for sampled well (mg/L) COL_WELL Total coliform bacteria, NEG = Negative, POS = Positive SO4_WELL Sulphate for sampled well (mg/L) CA_WELL Calcium for sampled well (mg/L) MG_WELL Magnesium for sampled well (mg/L) NA_WELL Sodium for sampled well (mg/L) CL_WELL Chloride for sampled well (mg/L) FE_WELL Iron for sampled well (mg/L) ZN_WELL Zinc for sampled well (mg/L) PB_WELL Lead for sampled well (mg/L) F_WELL Fluoride for sampled well (mg/L) MN_WELL Manganese for sampled well (mg/L) CU_WELL Copper for sampled well (mg/L) AS_WELL Arsenic for sampled well (mg/L) PH_WELL pH for sampled well SE_WELL Selenium for sampled well (mg/L) SAR_WELL Sodium absorption ratio for sampled well (not required) PERC_RATE Average soil percolation rate (minutes per inch) ON_WELL Proposing onsite wells? These files are intended to be updated annually. Last revision by John A. Passehl, P.G. on 04/11/05. If you desire further database updates please contact the Subdivision Program Supervisor at 307-777-7937. Note: The well water quality information indicates '0's for many parameters within the shapefile. Some parameters were never sampled and were shown as 'null' in the access database; however, when they were imported into the GIS (shapefile) the 'null' values were erroneously converted to '0's. Wherever '0's occur, cross-check the access database to verify the correct values of well parameters.
