Role of the Small Business Technical Assistance Program

The primary role of the Small Business Technical Assistance Program is to provide assistance to small businesses in determining applicable requirements and in receiving permits in a timely and efficient manner; to assure that small businesses receive notice of their rights in a manner and form that provides reasonably adequate time for them to evaluate compliance methods and applicable proposed regulations or standards; to collect and disseminate information on compliance methods and technologies for small businesses and programs to encourage lawful cooperation among the sources, including providing audits or referrals to qualified auditors to determine the environmental compliance status of a small business; and to assist small businesses with pollution prevention and accidental release detection and prevention.
