What is the Office of Outreach & Environmental
Assistance?
The Office is part of Wyoming's Department of Environmental Quality
(DEQ). It was established on July 1, 1997 by the Director of DEQ with
support of the Governor. The office was created to provide environmental
information and assistance to the businesses, municipalities and
citizens of Wyoming in a non-threatening, non-regulatory manner.
The Office provides a combination of informational and
educational environmental services including:
a wide range of printed, electronic and video format environmental
information
copies of rules and regulations and permitting requirement explanations
public presentations and displays
personal visits to locations statewide
answers to telephone and e-mail inquiries
All services are provided free of charge.
The office is staffed with four positions:

Provides information, responds to questions and facilitates public involvement in Departmental programs. Assistance is provided free of charge.
Small Business Assistance Program Coordinator (307) 777-7347
Provides information and compliance assistance to citizens, businesses and government entities regarding environmental rules or regulations. Assistance is provided free of charge.
Pollution Prevention (P 2) Program Coordinator (307) 777-6105
Provides information on new technologies, improved procedures and materials substitution that can eliminate sources of pollution which can save money and reduce a business's regulatory burden. Assistance is provided free of charge.
Emergency Response Coordinator (307) 777-7781
Coordinates Department technical assistance for dealing with hazardous material spills or accidental releases that may impact public health and safety through contamination of the state's air, water or land. Assistance is provided free of charge.

Household Hazardous Waste - (307) 777-7752
Offers technical assistance concerning the organization and development of household hazardous waste collection days and the proper management of household hazardous waste.
Non-Point Source Program - (307) 777-5622
Provides funding assistance for watershed assessment, improvement projects and educational programs that focus on preventing and solving water pollution problems related to non-point pollution sources (e.g. surface runoff from residential areas, urban and rural construction sites, cultivated farmland, etc.).
Wellhead Protection - (307) 777-7781
Approximately 90% of Wyoming's population depends on groundwater for their drinking water. The Wellhead Protection Program provides information and assistance on how to be involved with planning, development, and implementation of local wellhead protection plans.
Wyoming Recycling - (307) 332-6924
Provides technical assistance, workshops, marketing information, lending library resources, integrated solid waste management training, pay-as-you-throw training, small grants for local government entities and non-profit organizations, K through 12 educational materials and other promotional materials for communities, schools, businesses and individuals.
Wyoming's Wetlands Bank - (307) 777-7081
Offers credits to landowners for voluntary projects within the state that involve restoring or creating wetlands. These "banked" credits can then be applied to future construction projects that would impact previously existing wetland areas.
