From the Director

Welcome to the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality web site.

We hope to help you better understand how environmental issues may affect your lives and have done our best to make this web site user friendly. There are direct links to most of the state and federal rules and regulations that apply in Wyoming. There are downloadable files for a wide range of environmental permits and other data of interest to businesses and private citizens and there are links and contact information to relevant web sites for obtaining additional details.

This site is divided up into sections based on environmental media: air quality, water quality, solid and hazardous waste, active mine reclamation, abandoned mine lands, industrial siting and administration.

We have an additional section, the Office of Outreach and Environmental Assistance which you can get to by clicking on the Outreach tab on the main page, or access it directly here. This division is instrumental in helping you find what you need from the Department of Environmental Quality. If you have any questions about any environmental issue and aren’t sure where to start, go to the outreach folks and they’ll direct you in the right path.

We share many common values which form a solid foundation for cooperation and collaboration in dealing with environmental problems. We also understand that working together is the key to good environmental stewardship. That is why our Mission Statement reads, DEQ will “...work with Wyoming citizens to plan the development, use, reclamation, preservation, and enhancement of the state's air, land and water resources...” We believe that it is possible and desirable to combine protection of the state’s environmental resources with responsible economic growth. The ultimate goal is to retain and improve the unique environmental attributes of this great state, while at the same time supporting its economic vitality. We ask you to join with us in that quest.

While our personnel are doing their best to help you, we recognize that your ideas and insight can help us focus our efforts. Therefore, we encourage you to consider yourself part of our team and let us know if you have any suggestions on how we can improve our web site or department to serve you better.
